Another Gran Fondo that's known worldwide, Bespoke-Velo have secured a number of Gran Fondo Entry and Accommodation packages, so there is no need to miss out on Italy's biggest event outside the Giro D'Italia.

The Maratona dles Dolomites, is the pinnacle for sportive riders the world over, it has some of the greatest climbs in the region. Started in 1987, the event has grown to over 11,000 riders.

The popularity of the event is such that even getting a place in the Maratona is a result in itself. Bespoke-Velo has been lucky enough to secure 10 Maratona entry and accommodation packages, guaranteeing you a place on the start line for 2014.

The classic route comprises a lap of the Sellaronda, which in itself is 55k and 1780mt climbing, taking in the Passo Campolongo (twice!), Passo Pordoi, Passo Sella and Passo Gardena, followed by a second loop taking in the Passo Giau, Passo Falzarego and Passo Valparola. It's a welcome relief that the event is 'only' 138km, but what a lot of climbing it packs in! 4190mt that is! It is truly a stunning event, set against the backdrop of Heritage listed beauty.

We will be staying close to the start/finish of the event in beautiful La Villa. Our accommodation is specially catered for us and is exclusiveness will allow you to relax in luxury before the big event. The Accommodation supplies breakfast, lunches will be out on the road and evening meals will be catered for us at a local restaurant.

Bike Hire: We can arrange a carbon bike for your week, the cost starts from €110 per week

Tour Programme

Thursday 3rd July - Arrival

Arrival at Verona Airport.

We will be there to meet you on your arrival at Verona airport and to transfer you to our accommodation. Once you have had time to refresh yourself and unpack you will have time to prepare your bike and gear, we will be on hand for mechanical assistance if needed. If you are feeling like you want to test yourself a little before the proper riding starts there will be time for a quick spin, with a visit to the local bike shop, and coffee. In the evening we will drive to Badia to the race village and pick up our race pack. There won’t be much open from the sponsors but we can call past on Saturday on our ride.

Evening - Group welcome dinner

Friday 4th July - Group Ride.

Today's ride will be a steady affair, the idea is to get a few kilometres in without to much strain. We will head out to see some of Sunday's course. After a quick coffee stop, we get going again on our route before heading back to Corvara for a lunch stop. We can decide here to head back to the accommodation or we can continue and finish the medio loop. Option A ride about 55km and 1780mt of climbing, Option B ride 106km and 3090mt.

Evening - Dinner at a characteristic restaurant near the accommodation.

Saturday 5th July - Group ride.

Our ride today will be around 100km and 1000mt of climbing, we head down the valley towards Brunico, after 25km we leave the road and join the Val Pusteria Cycle Track, here we are vehicle free and head along for 30km before stopping at Mulbach for lunch. We retrace our steps for the return journey home. There are about 6 tunnels we pass through, if you have a rear light it would be handy for today's ride.

Evening - Dinner, tonite you are free to organise your own.

Sunday 6th July - Gran Fondo: Maratona dles Dolomiti

An early start for the departure of the Gran Fondo, we will have an early breakfast organised to give you maximum time to get you to the start grids. Then it is up to you as you ride the Gran Fondo, choose if you wish to 'go for it' or just appreciate everything just a bit more and take it easy on which ever course you choose, be it the Gran Fondo (138km and 4190mt) or Medio Fondo (106km and 3090mt) routes.

Evening - Celebration dinner with stories of how your experience of a fabulous Gran Fondo went.

Monday 7th July - Departure

Morning transfer to Verona airport for the return flights home.
